Our ‘Water Day’ gives us all a chance to learn more about how water is valuable to us humans. We learned that almost half the adult world population has jobs related to water. …and each of us may have as much as 75% of our bodies being water! That’s pretty impressive! So, all week we concentrated on water – on its value and in its various formations. Then, on Friday we shared our gained knowledge during our weekly Assembly. Nursery class learned about the differences between water, snow and ice; they made icicles and painted with them; they melted snow with sugar, or salt, or pepper to see what would melt the snow faster. Reception sang songs about water and experimented with tossing boiling water into the air outside, and Year1/2 made their own lava lamps, learning the difference that density makes in water and oil! Everyone watched the amazing Facebook video of Lake Baikal where icicle waves formed right on the shore! We are now more aware of how essential water is to us! It is magic!
